What is your name/nicknames?
You can call me Kathy or Kat!
What do you do at Shift?
I am a provisional psychologist in Edmonton and I work at Shift’s 124th Street location.
What are your academic credentials?
I have a Bachelors of Science with a specialization in Psychology and a Certificate in Community Engagement and Service Learning from the University of Alberta. I studied abroad in the United States and there I obtained a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from Gonzaga University.
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a herd of five guinea pigs who love to sleep and eat as much as I do!
Specialty Populations/Issues:
My speciality areas include helping individuals who have experienced major adjustments and transitions in their life. I specialize in helping clients with concerns surrounding anxiety, depression, self-esteem and worth, relationships, and trauma. I also have experience helping individuals of all ages with emotion regulation and coping.
THE RANDOM
What is your favourite food?
I love trying all sorts of different foods so I do not exactly have a favourite kind. However, I can never say no to Vietnamese food as it reminds me of home.
What is a skill you are working on currently?
Physically, I am working on becoming stronger by lifting heavier weights and celebrating the accomplishments that my strengths can achieve. Emotionally, I am practicing gratitude for the things that make life worthwhile.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as reading, exercising, watching shows, browsing the internet, and perfecting my baking!
What is your dream car?
I know nothing about cars and would be happy to hear your suggestions!
What is your go-to for a good laugh?
Hilarious videos on YouTube or TikTok, or a board game night with friends is always bound to end with laughter.
