Like all Shift Psychologists, Kayla is trained in the Shift Protocol, which is the highly effective blending of two well-researched approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Bi-Lateral Stimulation (BLS). She also has experience with solution-focused therapy and working with children and adolescents.

I work at Shift as a Registered Provisional Psychologist.

What are your academic credentials?

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree with an applied emphasis in Psychologist from Concordia University. I also have a Masters in Counselling Psychology.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! I have two dogs: a Bug named Bubbles and a Frenchton named Kohla. Both are a bundle of energy that keeps me more than occupied!

Specialty Populations/Issues:

My specialty areas include helping individuals with anger, anxiety, grief, trauma, gender identity issues, social skills, self-esteem, and family change (such as divorce and foster care). I also specialize in working with children who demonstrate challenging social and emotional behaviour within the classroom and home settings.


What is your favourite food?

I would have to say cookies – could eat them day and night… and if we are talking food with a little more sustenance, then it’s pasta!

What is a skill you are working on currently?

Procrastination… so my ability to not procrastinate!

What do you do in your spare time?

When I need time to recharge, I enjoy relaxing on the couch and watching TV with a cup of joe and a mountain of blankets! I am also big on family and friends so I love spending time with them. Otherwise, you can find me teaching at the dance studio!

What is your dream car?

I could definitely rock a metallic purple Escalade!

What is your go-to for a good laugh?

I most definitely enjoy watching live comedy – Kevin Hart, Russel Peters. But if I need a quick fix of laughter, videos of scare pranks get me everytime!
