Like all Shift Psychologists, Sam is trained in the Shift Protocol, which is the highly effective blending of two well-researched approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Bi-Lateral Stimulation (BLS). I work mostly with adults and adolescents.

What is your name/nicknames?

My full name is Samantha, but I typically go by Sam.

What do you do at Shift?

I am currently a provisional psychologist working towards full registration!

What are your academic credentials?

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, as well as a Master’s of Counselling from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

Do you have any pets?

Oh yes! I’m a huge animal lover and my partner is a veterinarian – so we have lots of animals and growing, Including a cat, a Saharan Uromastyx (a type of lizard), and several poison dart frogs.

What is your favourite food?

I’m a total foodie and I’m very adventurous with food – but nothing beats a good hot dog.

What is a skill you are working on currently?

I’m currently looking up good ideas for home-keeping and interior design. I especially love learning about colour theory (and the psychological effects that different colours in the home can possess!

What do you do in your spare time?

I love cooking, good books, good films, and good video games. I’m also interested in getting into Dungeons and Dragons!

What is your dream car?

Tesla!

What is your go-to for a good laugh?

I consider myself a bit of a stand-up comedy buff, so naturally I’ll put on a favourite comedy special for a good laugh!
