Like all Shift Psychologists, Sarah is trained in the Shift Protocol, which is the highly effective blending of two well-researched approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Bi-Lateral Stimulation (BLS). She also has experience in dialectical behavioural therapy, CBT, mindfulness techniques, play therapy, as well as couples and family therapy.

What is your name/nicknames?

My name is Sarah, and unfortunately I don’t have a cool nickname (so jealous of those who do!) The closest thing I have is; “it’s Sarah with an H”

What do you do at Shift?

I am a therapist at Shift, and I love helping people navigate through difficult emotions and rough patches in their lives.

What are your academic credentials?

I have an Honours B.A. with a specialization in Psychology, and an M.A. in counselling psychology. A million years ago I completed a diploma in nursing. (Yay, school!)

Do you have any pets?

I have the sweetest little lady named Lotus, a cross between a Boston terrier and a cocker spaniel (we think). She’s a firecracker even though she’s pushing 12 years old!

She thoroughly enjoys helping individuals navigate and cope with emotional and mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, and diagnosed mental health disorders.

What is your favourite food?

Bread. Anything with bread.

What is a skill you are working on currently?

I’m working on being okay with being uncomfortable when things don’t go smoothly. I like to plan things out, and it’s not always easy to deal when things go sideways!

What do you do in your spare time?

I like to spend time with my family, watch movies, or do something artsy/crafty.

What is your dream car?

A black Lambo (black cars look better in the shade)

What is your go-to for a good laugh?

I love a good meme, and the “Nailed It!” series on Netflix.
