Like all Shift Psychologists, Sherise is trained in the Shift Protocol, which is the highly effective blending of two well-researched approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Bilateral Stimulation. She also operates from a strength-based approach and has experience in mindfulness and solution-focused techniques.


What is your name/nicknames?

My girlfriends back home call me Shari, it somehow stuck and now feels weird if they refer to me as Sherise lol.

What do you do at Shift?

I am one of the Registered Psychologists at Shift YYC and get the honor of working with kiddos and adults!

What are your academic credentials?

Formally, I have a Bachelor of Psychology and a Masters of Education, specializing in counselling. I do a lot of reading, podcasts and research to add to my knowledge as well.

Do you have any pets?

Yes! My pup Ozzie, he is a Border Collie crossed with Australian Shepard and he has my whole heart. He is the biggest extrovert and at the dog park needs to run across the park to greet everyone and make them feel welcome (even if others politely decline his greeting). He has shared with me he wants to enter WrestleMania when he is old enough, haha.

Specialty Populations/Issues:

My specialty areas involve helping individuals navigate concerns surrounding depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, mood disorders, and family of origin concerns. I also enjoy supporting those with issues surrounding bullying, self-esteem and self worth, and relationship difficulties.


What is your favourite food?

I would say pizza- also would say that I wish I was the person that could take home leftovers at a restaurant, so hard to stop! I also love cheese- charcuterie boards are my favourite thing!

What is a skill you are working on currently?

I love “mind game” puzzle books- Sudoku is my newest endeavour!

What do you do in your spare time?

I love walks with friends while taking Ozzie, whether that’s along the reservoir or to a dog park. I also love going to Orange Theory! So intense but the most rewarding workout class I’ve been to- physically and mentally! For sure a mind over matter experience!

What is your dream car?

I can’t keep up with all the fancy cars nowadays! Especially since my car makes so many noises, currently hoping mine doesn’t break down and am hoping to save my pennies to upgrade! haha

What is your go-to for a good laugh?

Playing Games with friends! I love Fish Bowl, Jackbox, Taboo – any interactive ones really!

She thoroughly enjoys helping individuals overcome depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief and loss, mood disorders, as well as family of origin concerns. Sherise takes a non-judgmental client-centered approach and has worked with individuals, couples, families and students of all ages throughout schools and non for profit agencies. She has had a lot of experience with children and adolescent populations. She also enjoys coaching clients through self-esteem and interpersonal challenges, and to improve their personal performance in all areas of their lives.  With a warm, open and empathetic style, she quickly establishes rapport and helps motivate her clients to improve their lives and create a joy filled existence. Sherise is a fun-loving and compassionate individual and feels strongly about using ones strengths and resources to overcome their barriers in life. When she is not immersed in creating magnificent mental fitness for clients, you could find her drinking endless cups of coffee at trendy coffee shops, scrambling on mountain peaks or running along the river pathways. She also really loves listening to live music, snowshoeing in the winter, and has been caught snaughling numerous times.

A favourite day in the life of Sherise would be immersed in the outdoors, so whether that is going for a walk or a run along the river pathways or if I’m feeling adventurous- going to climb a mountain. Oh and I love coffee, so I would combine that with stopping at my favourite eatery, Alforno!
